I’m pretty sure the progress we made these past few weeks is my favorite yet!
After we demo’d the kitchen wall and took out the tile, our next item on the list was to tackle the entrance to the den.
We’ve gone back and forth on the plan for this room. Our kids use it as an extra family/play room so I love the fact that it has doors. However, it is a tight squeeze to have the dining room table so close, and just feels a little awkward and clustered.
The compromise? Widen the door frame and install barn doors!
My husband noticed when we first moved in that the doors must have been an after thought when he saw the drywall had been touched up around the frame. We confirmed this when I got the wood floors in the kitchen out this week.
So we started taking it back.
And discovered a fully finished door frame inside.
We only gained about a foot in width, but several feet in height and it visually makes such a huge difference. I can’t get over how much more light we get in the space, and how much bigger it feels!
Even little miss approves ☺️.
