In the spirit of finishing up projects, I’m buckling down with a resolve to make some progress on a few rooms. I’m starting in the entryway. I have big plans all over the house, but I really tackle whatever I’m in the mood for. Right now, the entryway is the focuse of my energy for a few reasons. I started a DIY church pew, which really was the jumping off point to getting this room a little further along. I started the board and batten. I started a DIY sign.
Basically, I started a bunch of projects that I just need to get DONE!
I had a million ideas floating around in my head, and decided to get them all together and create a design board. I don’t know why I haven’t thought to do this sooner. It really helped visualize the space, and I think will help tremendously in our other rooms as we get to them. I try to explain to my husband the plans I have, but usually I am met with a blank stare. If I have a design board to show him, it will help him to be on board, and he will be able to add his two cents. Which, believe it or not, I actually want. He is very practical, but also has really great design choices, so I really value his input. Plus, he lives here too! As much as I like to have control, I want our home to represent our FAMILY, not just me!
So without further ado, here’s my plan for the entryway-
Spoiler alert- I already started the board and batten, painted the interior of our front door a dark almost black, and purchased the rug. I had a friend pick up some of the hooks from Ikea (our closest one is 3.5 hours away), and I had a major DIY disaster (twice) trying to make a sign. I am giving it one more try, and then I will probably break down and buy one. But the frugal side of me (read: cheapskate) just can’t do it yet. They are all gorgeous, I just feel like it is within my abilities to create, so why wouldn’t I? I had the Ikea pendant in my cart when I visited my sister over a month ago, but then second guessed myself. The hubby vetoe-d it, but I may have to go for it anyways! The price is just too good. And when we save up and want to spend more on a fixture, it can be replaced. But I really do love it for this space. At least I think I do=).
Ok, back to work for me! I’ve got an entryway to finish!
